LOW COST FLAME DETECTORS

DO NOT USE LOW COST FLAME DETECTORS WHERE HIGH SPECIFICATION DETECTORS ARE REQUIRED.

TO DO THIS COULD BE DANGEROUS!

Please note that these low cost detectors have proven very satisfactory for many years by a variety of users but are not certified to EN54-10 due to the exorbitant cost of this certification.  They may not be used in the EU as part of a Fire Alarm System in a building but may be used on a stand alone basis.  These detectors may also be used in all other countries providing there is no local restrictions prohibiting their use.

Model

Brief Description

Suggested Applications

Hazardous Area Certification

UV

101-3

Typically detects a 25mm gas flame at 6 metres in 1 to 2 seconds at 6 metres.  Connects directly to a zone on most Fire Alarm Control panels for 24Vdc operation.

Enclosed areas indoors or under cover free from spurious sources of UV such as arc welding, sparks, quartz halogen lights, etc.

None

UV

101-3R

As for 101-3 above but also contains a relay.  May also be used as a stand alone unit with a separate 12-30Vdc power supply.

As above

None

UV

101-9

Typically detects a 25mm gas flame at 6 metres in 3 to 4 seconds at 6 metres.  Connects directly to a zone on most Fire Alarm Control panels for 24Vdc operation.

As above

None

UV

101-9R

As for 101-9 above but also contains a relay.  May also be used as a stand alone unit with a separate 12-30Vdc power supply.

As above

None

UV

101-9LVR

Low voltage, low quiescent operating current, typically 70µA at 9Vdc.  Contains a relay and typically detects a 25mm gas flame at 6 metres in 3 to 4 seconds at 6 metres.

As above and suitable for use with batteries on a standalone basis remote from a separate power supply.

None

UV

101-9Ex

As for 101-9R above but contained in a Flame Proof / Explosion Proof Housing.

Hazardous areas free from spurious sources of UV such as arc welding, sparks, quartz halogen lights, etc.

Housing ATEX certified to II 2 G D and CENELEC / IEC to EEx d IIc T6

UV

301LI

Typically detects a 25mm gas flame at 6 metres in 3 to 4 seconds at 6 metres.  Rugged housing (shown with anti vibration mounts) to IP65.

Areas free from spurious sources of UV such as arc welding, sparks, quartz halogen lights, etc.  Suitable for use in Lifeboats, marine applications and other applications where a robust unit is required.

None

IR²

103

Dual IR sensors assist in reducing false alarms.

Connects directly to a zone on most Fire Alarm Control panels for 24Vdc operation.

For applications in enclosed areas under cover.   Suitable for most indoor applications where smoke may be present in the event of a fire or where spurious sources of UV exist.  Avoid vibrating hot objects.

None

UV-IR²

302

If the UV detector detects a flame, power is then supplied to the IR detector. Should the IR detector confirm a flame is present, a relay is energised and alarm activated.

For applications in enclosed areas under cover.   Suitable for most indoor applications where  IR or UV false alarm criteria may be present.  Virtually false alarm free.

None

UV

NSM 1

A derivative of Flame Detection designed for the detection of unauthorised smoking.   Detects a 25mm flame lighting a cigarette at 6 metres in 2 seconds.
