Text Box: Model 4 UV Flame Simulator
(UV Test Torch)
Text Box: SPECIFICATION

Power supply : 2 x standard Alkaline D size
                              batteries.

Spectral range: 185 to 400nm.

Weight with batteries,
carrying case + spare batteries: 2.2kg.
Text Box: On receipt, open carefully taking care not to damage the quartz window on the front of the unit. Replacement quartz windows are costly!

CAUTION

1. These Flame Simulators emit ultraviolet light
harmful to the eyes if viewed directly.

DO NOT: Point the unit directly at any person
                 when pressing the ON button.

DO NOT: Open the front section containing the
reflector and UV emitter as a high
voltage is present. This also invalidates
                 the warranty!

2. When not in use, ensure the unit is stored in a
    cool dry dust free location.

3. Handle the unit as you would a fragile instrument.
Text Box: OPERATION

1. Ensure the unit is fitted with fresh batteries
    (Qty. 2 x Alkaline “D” cells).

2. To operate the unit, depress the switch and aim
the unit at the UV Flame Detector under test,
ensuring it is within approximately 10 metres
from the front of the Test Torch.

Distance from detector under test will vary
depending on the sensitivity of the UV Flame
Detector. Ensure detector quartz window is
clean. If the detector under test has a sensitivity
adjustment, note current setting and change to
    maximum sensitivity.

3. With the switch depressed, the red LED on the
front of the unit should illuminate and the UV
    Flame Detector should activate.

4. All UV sensor tubes degrade with time. If it is
necessary to get very close to the detector for it
to activate, consider replacement of the UV
sensor tube. Ideally, compare activation to a
new unit of known sensitivity at the same
distance. On completion of tests, reset detector
    sensitivity adjustment to original setting.

MAINTENANCE

Ensure quartz window is clean and free from oil and grease. If necessary, gently clean with a damp cloth moistened with clean water and a minute amount of washing up liquid.

Avoid contamination of the quartz window with oil, grease and silicones which will inhibit the output.
